At Staining, we recognise the importance of Science in every aspect of daily life.  We harness our children’s natural curiosity for the world around them and nurture their sense of wonder.  Our curriculum incorporates Science within the whole school curriculum.  We ensure progression of scientific knowledge and skills throughout a child’s time here; incorporating questioning, researching, investigating and observing.  Stimulating, engaging and challenging activities encourage our children to ask questions and suggest their own ways in which they could answer them. We ensure that our children learn scientific vocabulary and we revise and build on this as they progress through the school.  Through teaching in class, wider opportunities, visits and visitors we aim to build the children’s Science Capital – Science Capital is all the science related, knowledge, attitudes and experiences that we acquire through life.  It includes what you know and how you think of science.
