[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]At Staining CE Primary School, we aim to provide a Mathematics curriculum that develops a passion and enjoyment of Mathematics and encourages curiosity, questioning and ‘deep thinking’. We foster a ‘can do’ attitude towards Mathematics and believe that all children can succeed.

We aim for all pupils to:

• become fluent in mental maths to enable them to think and recall quickly and confidently and apply this to written calculations and problems.
• be able to quickly and skilfully make connections and to apply their mathematical knowledge to problems, investigations, across curricular subject and real to life situations
• to use mathematical language with increasing sophistication to explain, justify or debate a process or line of enquiry
• to have a solid foundation and understanding of the number system and number operations that will enable them to complete calculations, both mental and written, efficiently and accurately.
